WeMeUs Tutorial

What is WeMeUs?

Please see our Why WeMeUs pages. here

Why are there contacts in my address book when I first log in?

We have added 10 contacts to your address book to get you started. Use them as examples of how the important information about your contacts can be organized. They are all tagged "demo" so you can delete them at any point. In addition to these contacts, clicking on the "Getting Started" link in the left panel of your address book will take you to our Welcome letter, which tells you how to quickly get started with information you have in your existing address books.

Is WeMeUs data backed up in case of an emergency?

Yes, we back up our databases daily, in addition to backups done by our hosting service.

What kind of support do you provide?

We try to answer emails to support@wemeus.com or partners@wemeus.com as quickly as possible, and generally respond within a few hours.

What does WeMeUs cost?  How are you going to make money?

The WeMeUs "personal CRM" provides basic services that enable you to centralize and organize your contacts and relationships across multiple address books, and "bank" your contacts and "relationship IP". It includes a central address book, groups and tags, and contact log, as well our Keep In Touch system to ensure regular communications with your important contacts. You can organize and manage information about each contact including:
  • Unlimited tagging of contacts for easy recall and grouping.
  • Tracking where you met someone and who referred you.
  • Tracking contacts' interests and the interests you share with them.
  • Special dates and a contact's key relationships.
  • History and context of the relationship.
We make money from premium services developed for consultants, solopreneurs and other self-employed professionals who generate business through their networks. Our Premium Silver subscription helps users generate more leads and referrals from their network, and increase conversions using targeted one-to-one email marketing and followup, combined with lead capture, tracking and management - all for just $9.95 a month. Premium Silver includes:

Email Assistant - Email Assistant simplifies personalized email communications for reach-out and one-to-one marketing
Draft the content and select the contacts from your address book - the Assistant produces
an individual, personalized email for each contact and sends them through your existing email
service.

Lead capture - capture website visitor information requests using your own forms or WeMeUs-generated forms
New contacts, leads, reminders and alerts are automatically created when visitor requests are
entered.

Lead tracking and management - centralize leads and associated contacts, ensure timely follow-up, track to conversion
All leads tracked to conversion, displayed through lead overview and reminders set for review.
Lead tracking includes integrated reminders, referral sources, sales stage, and email reminders

What programs do you have for companies and groups that want to recommend or use WeMeUs?

Our partners program includes several levels of cooperation and even revenue sharing with deeper integration (more details here: Partners Page ). Please email us at partners@wemeus.com with specific questions.

Is WeMeUs available in other languages besides English?

Not at this time, but soon after launch we will release a toolkit that enables users to localize much of our services.

Is WeMeUs available for installation in our office?

WeMeUs is only available as a hosted product, where we maintain the servers, the security, updates and modifications, and use access to the web to help you get added value from your contacts and relationships. That leaves you free to focus on your business.

Can I customize WeMeUs?

You can change the format and the content of the contact pages in your address book, using our drag and drop interface. We also offer customized widgets for vertical markets on those pages, contact us at sales@wemeus.com for more details. The open API we are building includes Open Social support and the ability to add additional communications, persistent connection and update options. We'd like to know what and how you'd like to customize the service, tell us about it here: developers@wemeus.com

How are individual contacts entered?

Add a Contact helps you to enter new individual contacts quickly. The minimum information required on a contact is First Name, Last Name and Email Address. If you click on the Expand arrow in the upper right corner of the widget, you can enter the name of the person who referred this contact to you, where you first met them, what interests you share in common and then enter tags (keywords, labels) so that you can quickly retrieve them.

What are tags and how can I use them in my address book?

Tags are a way of organizing and categorizing the people in your address book. For example, you might tag one of your active customers 'current client', or you might tag another contact who is on LinkedIn with 'LinkedIn'. Then you can search your address book for all of the people with a particular tag. If you have been using the Categories in Outlook, or Groups in ACT, importing into WeMeUs will tag each contact with each of the categories they are in.

How does WeMeUs use widgets?

Widgets are used in WeMeUs in two places: the dashboard and the contact detail record. On the dashboard, each widget represents summary information about different activity in the system. Any widget can be closed and removed by clicking the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the widget. New widgets can be added using the pulldown Add Widget directly underneath Dashboard on the main navigation bar on the page.

On the contact detail record, widgets represent specific information about your contact. Widgets can be re-positioned on the page, removed, or more added. Widgets can also be moved to additional tabs. The detailed information on your contacts in the database is not affected by whether or not the widgets displaying that information are visible or not. For more information on working with contact detail widgets, see Customizing.

What does the Log & Reminders widget do?

It contains data and reminders that you enter, data our system may enter when a record is imported, reminders it creates and other data gathered from other sites and services about this individual.

Log entries are time-and date-stamped and enable you to quickly enter a call or action, with an optional reminder of future action. Log entries can be sorted by date, type, subject, and filtered by open and closed reminders.

When reminders are due, they are displayed on the reminder widget on your dashboard.

How do I create a reminder?

Select a contact in your address book and click on them to see their detail. Select the Log & Reminders widget and click on the blue circle in the upper right of the widget to open a new log entry. Select a type (Phone, Email, etc.), and tab by one-time (or make it recurring), then tab by the date (to accept today's date), enter a subject and then select a date on which you want to be reminded. Add any details you want in the body of the log entry and click on Save. The system will display this reminder on your Dashboard, using the Reminder widget. It will be displayed there until you close it.

How do I get a summary of my open reminders emailed to me?

Under My Account, Settings, go to the My Reminders section. There you can select the types of reminders that should be sent, the frequency of the email, and the email address to send them to.

How do I get an emailed reminder of reminder I set for today?

Under My Account, Settings, go to the My Reminders section. For same day reminders, you must have the immediately box checked.

How do I edit a log entry I made?

Simply click on the log entry you want to edit. That pulls up the content of the entry into the grid, where you can modify or add to it, and then save it. The data of the entry will remain unchanged unless you choose to modify it.

How do I create a group?

Tag each group member with a specific tag that describes the group. Searching on that tag will return your group; click on Action and Save Search. Choices for search or group will be displayed, and choose Group, give it a name and description, and the next time you go to your Dashboard, it will be displayed on the Group widget.

What can I search for in my address book?

Search for tags, partial or full names, company names, and locations; search on multiple items using either 'and' or 'or'.

Will WeMeUs update my calendar?

There are two places that you can request calendar updates. The first place is under My Account, Settings, the My Calendar section. After selecting a calendar type and providing credentials (needed for Google) you can choose all or just one type of events that you want to have your calendar updated with. If you want calendar updates for events you schedule for today, you must check immediately under "same-day" updates.

The second place you can select a calendar update is when you set a reminder in a contact's log. Update Calendar lets you select whether to update your calendar, to send your contact an calendar update, or to do both.

Will WeMeUs update both my Outlook and my Gmail calendar?

WeMeUs will update as many as three calendars, if they are entered with the needed credentials in the My Calendar section of the Settings page.

Searching on that tag will return your group; click on Save, and choose Group, give it a name and description, and the next time you go to your Dashboard, it will be displayed on the Group widget.

What can I search for in my address book?

Search for tags, partial or full names, company names, and locations; search on multiple items using either 'and' or 'or'.

How do I export the data I put into WeMeUs?

The Export page enables you to make a copy of the contact information you have on WeMeUs in a .CSV file. You can choose to make a copy of all contacts, a group or even a single contact.

What kind of support do you provide?

We try to answer emails to support@wemeus.com or partners@wemeus.com as quickly as possible, and generally respond within a few hours.

WeMeUs doesn't currently support the vCard format, we will prior to our launch. Let us know if you need this at support@wemeus.com and we'll let you know as soon as it's completed.

Why is there a review area?

The review area is where you can review, select and tag individual or groups of contacts that you want to bring into WeMeUs. You can also delete contacts that are duplicates within your file to be imported (displayed in orange) or duplicates of records already in your address book (displayed in red). Use the Import Selected button to import one or a group of contacts, or the Import All button to import all records. Contacts in your review area will stay there until you import them, delete them or upload a new file.
